Introduction:
Over the past few weeks, you have taken a look at the history and relationships between the Israelis and Palestinians. Over the past 80 years we have examined the loss of life and destruction in which these two cultures have inflicted on one another. Throughtout this unit, many of you have asked the question, "Why can't these people get along?" In this final activity, you will have the opportunity to answer this question.
Task:
With your Group, you will be asked to come up with a strategy for peace between the Israelis and Palestinians. When you have been assigned your role, your team will analyze the Middle East crisis. You will create a plan of peace that will be acceptable to the people of Palestine and Israel. You will work together in your group to create a PowerPoint Presentation to present to the class explaining your peace plan. Each of your will have assigned tasks to represent one of four roles in this project.

To accomplish this task, you need to be in teams of four. Each person will have a role. Some cases might call for groups of five, in which case some roles will be shared between two people. Listed below are the roles your group will portray.

1. Meet by Roles - All the Historians, Israeli Diplomats, Palestinian Diplomats, and Mediators from each group will meet together to research for their role in the peace negotiations. Your group will be given a journal which includes the questions you will need to research and discuss, an evaluation, maps, a timeline, and note taking paper. I will be meeting with each role individually to discuss the expectiations that you will need to meet. There are websites in the resource section of this webquest for you to use. 4. Reflection Paper-
You have now come to the final task of the Middle East Unit. Over the course of the past few weeks we have examined the history behind the turbulent relationship between the Israelis and Palestinians. Through the extensive notes, newspaper articles, group discussions, research and Peace Plan PowerPoint projects you have seen just how complicated and intricate the situation has become.
For the final form of assessment you will be writing a reflection paper in which you will answer the following questions. I expect you to answer in detail with careful thought and insight.

**There will be assigned days for you to research and gather your information, discuss the peace process in your groups, create your PowerPoint presentation, and share your final result with the class. Some groups may find it necessary to meet before or after school, an even at nights or on the weekends to finalize this project.
