Declared their independence from Britain after winning the Revolutionary War through a four part document called the Declaration of Independence. It stated “the colonies' reasons for rejecting British rule.”(Rakove)“Its stirring opening paragraphs stated that the people of every country have the right to change or overthrow any government that violates their essential rights. The remainder listed ways the British government had violated American rights. The ideas expressed so majestically in the Declaration have long inspired the pursuit of freedom and self-government throughout the world.”(Rakove)

Why  The Colonies were tired of beng unrightfully taxed by King George the Third, so after they had won the  Revelutionary War, Congress created a document explaining all the things that the British Goverment had done to drive them to go to war and fight for independence.

Introduction and Preamble
The opening paragraph that begins with "We the People" and says that all people have equal rights and we have a goverment to protect those rights, furthermore, the people have the right to overthrow a goverment that  threatens these common rights.
The Indictment of  King George III
This paragraph is a list of all the ways that King George III has mistreated his pople and denied them their natural rights.
The Denunciation of the British People
This section of the Declaration of Independence  proclaims the separation of "colonial people from British People". (WikiAnsers)
Conclusion In this final element of this historic document, explains that the United States is now a new and independant nation.
