The Boston Tea Party
By: Kellie
WHO?
King George III was taxing the colonists for tea as a way to pay for war debts. And Parliament gave the East India Trading Company a proprietorship agreement to ship tea to the colonies.
WHAT?
The colonists of America would get tea for a cheaper price than ever before. Tea was a staple in the lives of colonists. The Parliament would then think they can tax the colonists more if they allowed that. The Colonists weren't fooled!
The Sons of Liberty, Led by Samuel Adams, decided to dress up as indians and go aboard the ships in Boston Harbor and dump the tea into the harbor!!
People though that the Boston Tea Party was a bold move, but London's reaction was passing the Intolerable Acts and closing the Port of Boston.
This sparked the start of the American Revolution.
WHEN?
Evening of December 16th, 1773
WHERE?
Boston Harbor.
WHY?
Because the colonists wanted to show that they didn't want to be taxed so high on tea.
HOW?
The colonists of America didn't want to be taxed on tea. So the Sons of Liberty came up with a brilliant plan. They sent 200 men disguised as indians to go aboard the three ships in Boston Harbor. The Dartmouth, The Elanor, and The Beaver. They dumped 45 tons of tea into Boston Harbor. This was not tolerated by England and this sparked the beginning of the American Revolution.
