| Thomas Pain said that the Rev. war "contributed
more to enlighten the world, and diffuse a spirit of freedom
and liberality among mankind, than any human event...That ever
preceded it" General Cornwallis was a general for the British Government |
What happend? Well as the results of the war, the
13 colonies threw over the british governement. So in its places
they made governments of their own, and they made sure that they
had the basic rights such as life, liberty, and the persuit of
happiness. What happend to all the people? Well most historians believe that about 7,200 Americans were killed in the battle of the Revolutionary War, about 8,200 more were wounded, and about 10,000 died from diseases or exposure. Also about 8,500 were killed after being captured by the British. |
Yorktown was the last important battle of the Revolutoinary War. American and French forces collaborated to deliver a crushing defeat to british forces under Cornwallis. | The Revolutionary war ended in the year 1783. | The war ended because the British had lost the battle at Yorktown and surrenderd. So when that news reached London the prime minister Lord north said that it was all over, and then the parliamnet voted North out of the office. After that they had to sit down and come up with a peace agreement with the Americasn. The agreement that they came up with was the Treaty of Paris | How did the Revolutionary war ended? Well there was a treaty called the Treaty of Paris. And that treaty was opend on April of 1782 so there could be a peace discussion between the Americans and the British. Ther person that represented the British Government was a wealthy man named Richard Oswald. The people that negotiated for the untied states were Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay, What the Treaty of Paris did was it revcognized the independce of the United States and to put in the news nation's borders. The borders extended from west to the Mississippi River, North to Canada, the east to the Atlantic Ocean, and south to about Florida. The Treaty of Paris also gave the rights for Americans to fish off the coast of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. |
