Would your group have gone to war to declare independence from Britain? Yes, because nothing productive was coming out of the protests. We feel that it took a war to change the minds of the British people.
What were the major points that made your decision? The Stamp Act was one large point. We feel that putting a tax on things that were mandatory to everyday life, is unjust. We also thought that the Intolerable Acts were an important point. The laws were oppressive and unjust.
Did all the group members agree with the decision? Yes, we all agree that the war was an important stepping stone to becoming the nation we are today. It was important to claim freedom and become independent.
What are the alternatives to war? Some alternatives to war are peace treaties, protesting, and ending all contact with the other party. We chose not to pick and alternative because we think that doing these things wouldn't have changed anything. We tried protesting, and that didn't work so we agreed that choosing a stronger alternative was better in the long run. However, we think that trying to make treaties before things escalated would've been beneficial.
